Salt

Salt       Is a mineral called sodium chloride a white crystalline substance used mainly for seasoning and as a preservative.  

 In the book of  Matthew the Lord tells us something of great significance, that we are the salt of the earth, (Matthew 5:13).  From the definition of salt,  our placement in this world  is to season and preserve.  It also makes a greater statement in the next part of the scripture that salt can become tasteless (Matthew 5:14) when this happens it is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by man. Salt is unlike any other mineral it brings forth flavor for taste and draws out poisons for a healing.

Salt is not only one of the most important substances mentioned in the Bible, but it is a necessity of life.  The Hebrew people knew very well of the importance of salt to health.  There is 14,000 uses of salt it is considered the most amazing mineral. How great is this, that God compares us to this mineral that is necessity of life.
